What’s That???

I think this picture of whatever this is, would be a great story starter. What do you think?

Once there was a green slimy space alien that fell from the bright blue sky. Plop! It landed on the school lawn. “I want my mommy!” the creature cried out! “Bleep, bleep, bleep…” it began to weep sorrowfully. Instead of running away, I knelt down and picked it up. Immediately I knew  I probably should not have done that, for instantly my hands turned green, tight, and leathery! My palms began to sweat and the creature looked at me inquisitively and asked, “Mommy?”

Now it’s your turn, write your own story starter for this picture and be creative!

This Friday, November 11th,  is Veterans Day, a time to honor our veterans who have served our country with great courage. Did you know Veterans Day was formerly known as Armistice Day and was a holiday to celebrate the end of World War I?

Lazy Reading

I feel passionate about reading, it opens us up to new countries, people and cultures we may not have experienced before. Reading also incites the imagination! This week, our librarian, Ms. Zamora, allowed us to get comfortable on the floor! Ah, lazy reading…

Fractions

We worked hard this week understanding whole to part relationships. We also discovered equivalent fractions. What fractions are equivalent to 3/4?
