Rock Stars!

We had an awesome rock presentation given by Mr. Baima. He is Mrs. Baima’s husband and he is a rock hound! Mr. Baima educated us on the different types of rocks found in this area. He also told us stories about the Empress of China and how she only wanted pink tourmaline. Mr. Baima shared with us a magnetic stick that picked up a meteorite, and showed us what to wear while mining for gems. You should always protect your head by wearing a safety helmet and  always wear heavy gloves to protect your hands from getting cut or bit. (Yes, bit…) Whew, there is a lot to being a miner. We were great listeners so, Mr. Baima declared us,  Rock Hounds! He even gave us a gem in a bag to take home. Mr. Baima and Mrs. Baima ROCK!

What was your favorite part of the presentation?

Mister Bumble

Meet “Mr. Bumble.” He is a Wood Bee. Wood Bees like to show off. Mr. Bumble greets me when I come home every day. He flies around my head to get my attention and when I give him my attention, he does a triple flying loop! He is very energetic… Mr. Bumble is my friend. :>)

Describe an insect you have researched. What are its characteristics, or facts you found interesting?

Mission Field Trip

Our Mission San Luis Rey field trip ended up being one of our class’ favorite trips. After a long bus ride, we were greeted by two friendly docents. We listen to Mr. Alan tell us about the mission’s history and about the Native Americans that lived near by. We toured the mission, viewed the beautiful gardens, walked the cemetery, and took our time gazing at the interesting artifacts found in the museum. Afterwards, we had a picnic on the grass and talked to our friends. What a wonderful time!

In your opinion, what was the best part of the trip?

Nature Walk

One of the things I love to do on my weekends is to go on nature hikes. There is wildlife, beautiful plants, flowers and trees to see, but most of all I just love being outdoors! What kinds of activities do you do on the weekends?

County Fair Visit

Take a look at what our County Fair representative brought along with her! A little donkey…awwwww, so sweet.

Have you ever been to our County Fair? If so, what kinds of things did you do and see there?

Painting Birdhouses

What better way to welcome spring? We painted birdhouses!
